A collection of East & Central African butterflies whilst on an overland safari trip through SW Uganda, Western Tanzania and Burundi; to eventually travel on the MV Liemba down Lake Tanganyika to N. Zambia. The following were collected at various stops on route, albeit in Burundi the weather, deforestation and insecurity attributed to a very small amount collected. Throw in general bad weather throughout the trip as well. Kalinzu/Maramagambo W.Uganda: Lycaenidae x2, Pieridae x 2, Charaxinae x 1, Acraeinae x 2 . Impenatrable Forest, SW Uganda: Lycaenidae x 4, Charaxinae x 3, Acraeinae x 11, Satyrinae x 4, Danainae x 2, Nymphalidae x 5, Pieridae x 8 . Gombe National Park, W. Tanzania : Papilio x 1, Nymphalidae x 3, Charaxinae x 3 . Kigwena Forest Reserve, Burundi : Nympahalidae x 2 (one Cymothoe which is endemic?; check D'Abrera re 1st photo ). Baruri Forest reserve, Burundi : Nymphalidae x 4, Satyrinae x 2, Lycaenidae x 1 . Bujumbura, Burundi : Nymphalidae x 1 . Ruvumbu National Reserve : Charaxinae x 1 and finally on the MV Liemba off Kilando Forest : Pieridae x1, Nymphalidae x1, Acraeinae x 4. I also include one Acraeinae specimen, caught near the Wvaza Marsh, Malawi; 25 Butterflies (Pieridae x 18, Nymphalidae x 7) and 5 moths, from Karen/Langata area of Nairobi and in addition some rather strange arrangements set in plastic of read more
