On offer is a Butz Choquin Cybele pipe from my own collection. Reason for sale: I prefer traditional shapes especially army spigots, hence this Cybele has to go. The pipe itself is not in my regular rotation, perhaps smoked between 20-30 bowlfuls since I have owned it. Unfortunately, if you do not like english and oriental blends, then the Professor's salt treatment may be in order! I suggest that you do that anyway, as in any estate pipe.
The pipe itself is aesthetically stunning with its pronounced flame grain which my camera is not so capable of capturing. The stem (as in this series by Butz Choquin) has an intricate hardwood inlay, the bit without teeth marks (to my naked eye anyway). The pipe is without question a truly stunning piece. I cannot tell you how much I paid for it as it was a long time ago, and I believe Butz Choquin began the series in 1999 and is still currently produced in many different incarnations retaining the horn shape. As I mentioned earlier, the only issue I have with this pipe is that the shape is not to my liking and it smokes (relative to my other pipes) too hot for me. This pipe can use a 9mm filter which is not supplied in this auction as also the tobaccos, Spode serving dish, pipe lighter, etc. Only the pipe itself is on offer without a pipe bag or a box. I like to do my own cleaning and am leaving the pipe for you to clean to your own satisfaction. All that I will do is soak the bit in alcohol and run a pipe cleaner through prior to being sent. The pipe may have the scent of english/orientals as I only smoke those blends and could be offensive to some used to an aromatic blend. Please factor this in your bidding. Photos are part of the description of this pipe and I have taken enough of it for your consideration, just double . If you would like a more detailed higher resolution photograph, please email me. To avoid any misrepresentation, the pipe is an estate item, NOT NEW, used but never ever abused. Nomenclature: "BC" over star symbol on the bit and "Butz Choquin" in script over CYBELE at the bottom of the pipe. Measurements are approximately as follows: Weight 54 gms. On the left side of the pipe (pointed outwards), t is a slight scratch, which is barely noticeable, but am stating it and hopefully the photo will give you some idea on how it looks. It is personally hard for me to notice as I do not gaze too much at my pipes. It is certainly not obvious to me...only on close inspection have I noticed it as I was cleaning the pipe, preparing it to be boxed. are more photos of this stunning pipe by Butz Choquin....a beautiful pipe to behold, sadly not to my boring, understated conservative taste. I hope that it finds its rightful owner who will care for her and use the most fitting of tobacco blends....notice its curves, slight twists and angles....a beautiful pipe this Cybele.
