Reginald Otho Weber 2nd Lieutenant Loyal North Lancashire Regiment DIED OF WOUNDS – 4th September 1917 Aged 25 Included in this very interesting lot is: British War medal – correctly impressed to 2 Lieut R.O. Weber 9 Regimental Buttons 2 Regimental shoulder titles Identity disc What appears to be an original photograph which has been very nicely mounted in a modern frame. Hallmarked silver swimming ‘shield’ – apparently taken from some trophy or other (see pictures) which is nicely engraved : REGENT SWIMMING CLUB / 30 YDS OPEN HANDICAP – R.O. WEBER – JUNE 1910. This measures app 1.5/8” x 1.3/8” Full service papers which include copy telegrams reporting him being wounded and subsequently dying from those wounds. Copy MIC/CWGC Son of Frederick and Emily Weber of Blyth Wood, Bromley, Kent. Reginald was born on April the 2nd 1892. He first enlisted into the Royal Fusiliers before being granted a commission into the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment as a 2nd Lieutenant. He died of wounds on the 4th September 1917 in the O.C. 17th Casualty Clearing Station near Ypres. He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery. His service papers (full copies included) indicate that amongst the property returned to his family were : 10 Regimental buttons / identity disc and 2 metal Regt badges.
