Very Cool large Bowie dating from anyw between Gold rush and Civil War era, possibly made for an Indian trade or personal use, does show an extencive usage throughout the consistently sharpened edge, which now retains quite sharp, blade is reforged from an old file so it is very durable and insures good quality steel. Brass guard is loose, the large horn grip however is completely solid and intact with iron pommel cap and ferrule, all show very honest and extensive aging. The knife comes in wonderful original scabbard made of thick leather and showing beautiful aging as well. Overall 13 ¼" in scabbard, just the knife is 12 ½"+ Blade is 7 ¾" in length and is 1 9/16" at the widest. Real nice working bowie knife overall with a massive blade that has seen decades and decades of service.
