On offer- A stunning French "Napoleon III" Gilt Bronze and Patinated Bronze Flying Cherub Chandelier. Circa 1890. This chandelier/fixture has 3 lights, one in the flying cherubs torch that he is holding up to illuminate his flight. The highly detailed work on this piece is amazing. The expression on this beautiful cherubs face is breathtaking. He is holding a branch with twigs and flowers [again incredible detail, the flowers screw off] they are a burnished gilt bronze. From the twigs and flowers stem 2 beautiful flowers in full bloom which are the bottom 2 lights. The shades are frosted flower form. The cherubs torch is a frosted flame shade, all of these 19th c. shades are hand made, they each have a small hole to let heat escape. The flower petal shades are replacements that are , again 19thc. and true to the original. The piece starts at the top with a tied gilt bronze ribbon, around the waist of the beautiful cherub is a gilt bronze fabric that is tied loosely around his waist and "pulled" up to the top ribbon and tied into a knot just below the top. Again detail has to be seen to be believed, fingernails, hair, eyes, flower detail even detail of fabric holding the cherubs hair out of his face while he is "in flight". Gorgeous piece! dimensions 31 inch by 13 inch-- cherub body alone almost a foot long. Any questions please do not hesitate.
