c. 1900 CHINESE CARVED STONE FOO DOGS

Presented is an interesting pair of Chinese foo dogs. These fierce foo dogs are carved from stone and wearing double necklaces of green beads, probably made of Peking glass, strung on heavy wire. The stone is well carved with great detail in the foo dogs' thick mane, intense eyes, and bared teeth. The foo dogs were made in China around the turn of the century or early 1900s.

The foo dogs in the bases were carved separately. They were made as two separate pieces and then put together.

Unfortunately some of the glue that was used on the beads at the ends of the foo dogs' necklaces has yellowed, but this could be cleaned up pretty easily. T are also some chips on some of the beads, but these are minor. Otherwise, the foo dogs are in great condition. T are no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.

The foo dogs are 3 1/4 inches wide and 5 inches tall.
