Perhaps the toughest and most durable rug on the face of the earth, the BIDJAR does more than just look pretty. Known worldwide as the Iron Rugs, these hand-woven Persian rugs are made by Kurdish people in Northwestern Iran in the village of Bidjar using the wet loom technique unique to this rug community. Bidjars are highly esteemed for their pile density, structural strength, and great weight. Bidjars compliment all decorating plans from traditional to the most eclectic. These highly prized beautiful carpets are at home in any location and live especially well in high traffic areas such as kitchens and entrance ways. Their graceful demeanor also makes them welcome in any dining or living room. Offered is a beautiful village weaved Bidjar from the 1940's. The highly prized herati pattern is skillfully executed in the ivory medallion and four concentric bands with four distinct color palettes: ivory, soft red, muted navy, forest green. The herati field is perfectly balanced by the navy border with softest rose guards. The exact size is 6'7" x 9"8". KSPI is 120 knots of 100% wool pile on cotton foundation . This rug is in excellent condition for its age with no problems, repairs, holes, odor or rot. T are no low areas or traffic patterns. Compare to the brick and mortar store offering at $5500 . The weaver of this rug has instilled a primal spirit into this amazing work of village art heirloom that will bring its beauty well into the next century.
