This Belle Ware footed and handled covered box has a wonderful 18th. century courting couple displayed on the top. It measures 5 1/4" H x 6 1/2" W. Belle Ware was a product made by Carl V. Helmschmied who designed and patented the pattern called the Helmschmied Swirl, more popularly known as the Erie Twist for C. F. Monroe's Wavecrest. Helmschmied eventually opened his own business in 1903. Belle Ware is often confused with Wavecrest because of its similarity. I don't usually add these sort of details because I feel informed buyers are just that "informed". However, I will also include a bit of trivia for you. Charles Fabyan Monroe died of Typhoid on November 29, 1919 at the age of 64 yrs. 7 months! ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I've had several inquiries as to the condition of this piece. It is in really wonderful condition, all the handpainted design is in tact, the courting couple has absolutely no loss to their features right down to the gentleman's mustache being fully present. Hinge and clasp are in perfect working condition, i.e., opens and closes with a good snap and sits perfectly on the base. Box is balanced and sits level on a table with no bobble. Both handles are present and secure. If you need any additional information, please send me a message.
