This is a Civil War era Carte de Visite with the double gilded borders. It shows a seated couple with a small round table between. On the table is a Brewster type stereoscope and the lady holds a stereo card. The image has a little mottling, but is good and rich. No photographer is mentioned, but written on beck in pen is- Alfred Ahlworth, son of John, + 1st wife Mary Ann. St. Thomas C.W. Canada. The card measures about 4 x 2 3/8 inches.This item came in a large lot of photographs and other items fresh from an estate auction in Sturgis, Michigan. Most are identified with family names of- Reeve/ Salvesen/ Jeanneret/ and Freeman with locations from- Sturgis, MI/ Western Springs, IL and the Chicago area/ Ligonier, IN/ and Canada. T are other names and locations, but these are mentioned most often. I have them all listed at this time in a number of separate lots including a huge lot with photos from the mid-19th century to the mid-20th century. Included in this lot are studio photographs and mostly old family snap-shots plus other interesting items.SORRY NO PICKUPS. Winner pays $2.00 Shipping (U.S.A. Only).
