c1700 Jaillot " Carte Particuliere des Environs de Paris..." 26 x 40 inches ( 65 x 100 cm), three sheets joined together as issued, copper-plate engraved map by Alexic-Hubert Jaillot ( 1632-1712) Paris. This map not found in the usual carto-bibliographical references. Full title (translated) is : "Special map of the environs of Paris and the countryside within Rovern, Clermont la Ferte, sous Iourarre Montereau faut Yvonne en Vernevil au Perche, with the course of the Eure River the New Canal of Versailles". Three decorative cartouches, small block lower left with the publisherâe(tm)s date. I cannot guarantee that this might not have been a Sanson-Jaillot published in Amsterdam, but given the date I am assuming Paris. The color is later, likely 20th century and is a bit bright. Otherwise the map is in overall VG condition with a few edge tears, chips, not of which touche the plate. One very small hole on the surface of the map, less 1/4 inch not on a printed surface, shown in image, with some minor creasing in this area as well. Possible source is " Atlas Francais".
