BID ON THIS BEAUTIFUL MAGNIFICENT ANTIQUE SILVER PLATE TRAY FROM MY BELOVED LATE WIFE'S ESTATE AND SHARE IN THE RICH HERITAGE OF HER DISTINGUISHED AND HISTORIC SOUTHERN FAMILY. My new wife (also widowed) and I are back on Ebay to again share the contents of the more than 120 boxes from our basement packed 65-125 years ago by my late wife's ancestors. Among them was this elegant large Silver Plate Footed Serving Tray ca 1880. As the photos show it is striking and elaborately decorated. The rim is decorated with roses and vines, and the tray itself is beautifully engraved with flowers, leaves, and fans. This 19th century tray measures 20" wide and 27" long -- 32" long from handle to handle. It weighs 14 pounds and is in excellent condition with only some minor use scratches on the serving surface and some tiny pitting you have to search for. You even have the opportunity to add your initials in the open center space to truly make it your own. The items we list came from the large antebellum mansions of my late wife's southern ancestors, who landed in Jamestown, Virginia in the early 1600s. One served as a captain in Washington's army and helped take the British surrender in our Revolutionary War. Some later moved to North Carolina and generations of medical doctors followed (with a dashing Confederate cavalry ledaer and some prominent legislators and lawyers thrown in.) A great uncle began the University of North Carolina Medical School and then was the first dean at the University of Virginia Medical School. Her father was the last of the North Carolina doctors and died in 1941. P. S. My father landed from Italy in 1913 and my late wife was foolish enough to marry this damn Yankee (quoting her grandmother). You may wish to visit the other items on our Ebay Auction Site for the special antiques we are listing. GOOD LUCK!!!
