RARE** c1880 VICTORIAN 12K ROLLED ROSE GOLD WEDDING BANGLE-
I am pleased to offer an absolutely STUNNING Victorian 12k Rolled Rose Gold Wedding bangle bracelet ...which is one of a pair This is a gorgeous wider bangle that is solid not hollow and is a TRUE rose gold color. Please note that some of the photos have dark shadows on the bangle, but t are no marks or dark spots this is simply reflection due to the high shine of this gorgeous piece ..the photos were taken in overcast conditions outside HISTORY It is Circa 1880 by design and styling This is one of a pair of Wedding Bangles and these were given to the Victorian Bride as a sign of betrothal one prior to their marriage and the other at the ceremony. The other bangle is available , but is damaged but will be included at no extra cost if you would like it ! They both came from a prominent estate and the other has slightly different patterns on it and is a little thinner, but they marry well . It has a beautiful flowing Victorian design - consisting of fabulous engravings around the outer front surface that are a large Acanthus leaves with small ornate Hyancinth flowers. and a large CROCUS.. a feminine piece .. and it exudes that beautiful Olde Worlde charm. . In Victorian Times the language of flowers was as important as that of being " well dressed" and flowers held special meanings HYACINTH - LOVELINESS , CONSTANCY , THE FLOWER DEDICATED TO APOLLO ACANTHUS - THE FINE ARTS CROCUS - BEAUTY So this bangle would have been a gift to a loved one...and must have a romantic history. DESCRIPTION & SIZING It is a fabulous antique soft true rose gold color, .and it has that antique patina you would expect with quality gold jewelry.... it also has that smooth feel only associated with solid karat gold This is rolled gold or gold shell.. and while not stamped the outer surface tests for a minimum of 12k and under 15k .. These bangles had a thick outer layer of gold over an underlying thin core, hence their flexibility...as they are quite fine but extremely strong. It is SOLID NOT HOLLOW and tfore can be worn daily and would withstand a lot of punishment. The design is on the front of the bangle and consists of foliage as described above .. . . and the inside and back are plain and smooth and so shiny... .. The band measures 1/2" in width and the inside measures just under 7 " which is quite rare for Victorian Times ast they were usually much smaller and the carvings are intricate and STUNNING !!!... It is a buckle type bracelet and has four notches to adjust size... so it will fit a multitude of wrists ranging from 5" -6 5/8" . It is not quite round but as it is so pliant it can be manipulated into shape if required but is not necessary as it forms to the wrist when being worn. It really is exquiste , and will one day become a lovely family heirloom piece. It weighs approx 8 grams which further adds to its appeal ! The only fault I can see is a little age wear inside near the inside edges..... but this is consistent with its vast age and is not visible when being worn , and does not detract from its beauty in anyway. Apart from that in FABULOUS antique condition ! . This is a MUST for the Victorian collector, or the antique rose gold bangle collector. The photos do not reflect the beautiful soft rose gold color, it was hard to capture ..and the photos appear dull and dark as it was so overcast outside .. I couldnt capture the brilliant shine to the gold.........they do NOT do this gorgeous thing justice at all ! Please check my feedback so you may feel confident shopping with me.
