c1881 Copeland PRIMROSE Brown Transferware Lg Plate
This auction is for one of several pieces of the Copeland Primrose pattern we are listing this week. This pattern was also used later by Copeland Spode (this is the early version). Some pieces I have show the English Registry mark dating to 1881. I am not sure if it has to do with Staffordshire or not. The Pattern is a lovely chintz with main motif having alternating chintz pattern in large flower shape. This busy pattern is VERY eye catching and would be great for display. Background is a creamy white with dark brown transfer having a copper/gold looking trim. Be sure to check out our other auctions for more early pieces in this hard to find pattern. Win more than one auction, and we can ship together to save you $$! This auction is for a 9 3/4" dinner or luncheon plate in the Primrose pattern in excellent barely used condition. It measures 9" across and has no chips or cracks, and just a few light utensil markings from minimal use. T is some normal wear out outer gold trim. A lovely example, bid today.
