Payment C1890 FRENCH ART POTTERY AND BRASS LONGWY OIL LAMP NoRE This is a very handsome art pottery and decorated brass Longwy oil lamp that dates to circa 1890. The lamp measures 23 inches or 58.5 centimeters high with its chimney. Without the chimney it measures 15 1/2 inches or 39 centimeters.The wick turner is marked "NO 3 QUEEN B&P". The base of the lamp is antique brass with 4 feet and is decorated with repetitive Art Nouveau-style patterns echoed in the Longwy art pottery base above it. The art pottery base is beautifully enameled in the Art Nouveau tradition and in the Longwy style of glazing with many colors to resemble cloisonne or other enameled metal. It has as its base color turquoise, which is decorated with a colorful array of flowers in all different shapes, sizes, and hues. Please see photos. Above the pottery base, the brass fittings for the oil lamp, complete with the generous font, the wick turner, and the original wick. Above this, the shade, which is frosted glass with an elaborate and very appealing etched scene of palm trees and ocean/beach imagery. This shade measures 6 inches or 15 centimeters high and is 5 3/4 inches or 14.5 centimeters in diameter. Inside the shade and above it, the chimney. The lamp is in its original condition with no alterations. The color or patination of the lamp is a light golden brown. It is unpolished and all original. It is in excellent condition overall. The Longwy art pottery base of the lamp is in near-mint condition. T are no cracks or chips, and the degree of glaze crazing that is visible is to be expected in a piece of Longwy art pottery of this age. Again, please see photos. T is no reserve.
