** SCARCE GERMAN WORK WITH STUNNING ART NOUVEAU-STYLE ILLUSTRATIONS ** Die Nibelungen dem deutschen Volke wiedererzählt by Franz Keim & Carl Otto Czeschka [PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR MORE PICTURES] DETAILS: (Wien, Leipzig): Verlag Gerlach u. Wiedling, n.d. c1908. Edition unstated (No.22 in Gerlach's Jugendbucherei, as numbered on spine). Papered boards, backed in cloth. 67pp. Illustrated with 8 double-page illustrations by C.O. Czeschka, partly printed in colours and heightened with gold, plus decorated title page, woodcut initial, and numerous small woodcut devices on rear of plates, and in some borders. Text in German. 12mo (6in x 5.5in / 15cm x 14cm). CONDITION: Near Fine (see table below for details). Some sunning and edgewear to boards and spine. Top corner of front board torn with small crease/tear without loss. Hint of sunning to pages and plates, still in nice condition internally. Collated and complete. A very nice copy! *Photo(s) given of actual book. CONTENTS: This scarce and highly sough-after edition of Nibelungen is perhaps the single work for which the prolific artist C. O. Czeschka is best known. Czeschka (1878 - 1960) was a member of the Wiener Werkstätte, a poster artist, graphic designer, illustrator and typographer.
