Farahan Sarouks,get their name from the village w for years home workers have made very finely knotted rugs with a specially ramified ornamentation of arabesques and flowers.Some have medallions of ingenious conception,round or lozenge shaped on a blue or rust fed backround that is almost totally hidden.This region between Kashan and Arak has ranked among the best Persian Artistry since the 18th century.T are various mosaic and pictorial designs on some pieces.Some smaller rugs have an ascending tree of life motif.The base fabric is cotton with an even nap of sturdy wool.It is not unusual to find as many as 400,000 Turkish or Persian knots to the square meter.Often these rugs were never put on the market but offered only to the very affluent who desired the finest and very high quality of these elite carpets.
