Offered for bid is a lime green pillow vase made by the Phoenix Glass Company of Monaca, Pennsylvania. The vase has three flying white geese on both sides in relief and was designed by Reuben Haley from inspiration from Rene Lalique. In 1925 Reuben Haley left working at U S Glass Company and began his own design company in space rented by the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company. He died in 1933, but his son, Kenneth Haley, started work at Phoenix Glass Company when the Considated Lamp and Glass Company shut down during World War II. Kenneth Haley took molds with him to use by Phoenix. Sculptured Art Glass was made starting in the 1930s and involved a process, where the figures on the vases or bowls were made separately and then applied to the vases or bowls and then refired. This particular vase has part of the original paper label (photo #12) found on the bottom. The label reads "Sculptured Art Ware" and the trim is silver, which was the first label used. Later on they used a gold trimmed label, and later on, they didn't use a label. This vase is one of the early ones and should date to the 1930's. The vase is 9-1/2 inches tall, 11-1/2 inches across, 5-1/2 inches deep, 6-1/2 inches across the opening, and weighs 5 pounds 12 ounces (5120 grams.) The condition of this vase is excellent with no ships, cracks, or repairs. The only read more
