COMPLETE VINTAGE 1932 GERMAN CIGARETTE BOOK Die Völkerschau in Bildern (= The Show of Cultures/Races in Pictures) Dear ebay team: note that this book was published in 1932 (by Eckstein-Halpaus Cigarettes in Dresden, Germany)-- before the Nazis took over Germany's media. In other words, it is not a propaganda album. It is neither hateful nor discriminatory; as a matter if fact, I'd like to call it the first German multicultural work--if you can grasp that hitherto unfamiliar complexity of different races working towards a common goal! A truly rare and complete album with 258 cards. It covers various races or cultures of the world (incl. America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe), mostly depicting warriors with a wide variety of often surprising attires, uniforms, and weapons. The book measures 9 x 12 1/2 inches and its colorful cards nearly 2 x 2 1/2 inches. They are all present. The book, its cigarette cards, and the huge fold-out map (attached in the back and measuring nearly 13 x 34 inches) are all in good condition. A unique characteristic of this album is that the vast majority of the cards can still be lifted up or removed if needed because they have been barely taped, which is why a few of them are becoming loose--but again: they are all present! About 5% of the cards are glued, so they can't be lifted anymore. The front read more
