A RARE ca. 1899 MASON MODEL 0000 STEAM ENGINE BOILER FEED PUMP
An Extremely Fine and Rare Mason 0000 Steam Engine Boiler Feed Pump, Serial # 354, by The Mason Regulator Company, Boston, Mass. Fine details include presentation grade with most parts of nickel on brass or cast-iron, not cleaned in any way, fresh from a Maine shop w it once provided feed-water for a small boiler and engine installation. The steam cylinder with detailed removable head, top mounted valve-chest with ornate hand-lever shuttle valve reverse mechanism, mason logo on both valve-chest heads, original condensate valves each with wood handle, center-mounted crosshead with common piston rod , top-mounted crosshead driven valve linkage with provision for fine adjustment with ¾" dia. knurled knob. The water cylinder with top mounted removable 2" dia. x 3 ½" tall pressure dome with maker's name, both cylinders each with brass adjustable packing glands, 1/8", ¼" and 3/8" provision for piping, all on an ornate tapered heavy cast base with maker's name on opposite sides in raised letters. I have run this pump on both steam and air and it performed flawlessly and is complete and in close to factory condition without sign of wear or problems. Dimensions: Overall length 17", height to top of dome: 12", base footprint 9"x 4 ½"; Weight 35 lbs. These small pumps are seldom seen especially in such condition. This would polish beautifully and complement any steam plant or collection. These were used for small shop boilers and for steam launches.
