I am selling this 1925 VICTORY GLASS CANDY CONTAINER...appeared for first time in SEARS CATALOG, FALL AND WINTER EDITION, 1926 as "one of four" glass novelties filled with candy and priced at 53 cents !!! It was also purchased from an ESTATE SALE a few weeks ago in my hometown area and I personally know the family. This container is an early cabinet type of radio with speaker horn on top and is all clear pressed glass. The cabinet front slopes backward making the top narror than the base. Inside bell of horn is the remainder of gilded gold paint left from years ago, the cabinet is unpainted [never had paint when new]. Marked on front is "TUNE IN" and three evenly spaced knobs above three dial pointers. On inside of cabinetunder top is "V' over "G"logo and J'NET, PA....on left side is: U.S.A. The bottom has red tin slide-on closure [original one]. This is VAR.A. in book. On bottom back shows an old bubble in glass. I have not tried to slide closure off...very tight...nor have I done any cleaning of this old candy container. The left corner at bottom has been chipped. At the very top of horn is a VERY tiny chigger [chip] and almost unnoticeable. I have tried to show this in my pictures. The measurements are: 4 1/2" high. base 2 1/2" by 1 5/8". The little girl that owned this is now in her late 80's and in the nursing home with no family left. Thanks for viewing and please email me with any other questions. I accept money orders, cashiers checks, personal checks [a delay for checks to clear] and Bidpay. I DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL. Buyer pays for shipping, handling and insurance. Items sent day after payment received, by USPS MAIL.
