This a very old thick cut slab of opaque quartz gold from Columbia, Ca. load mined in the 1800's. Slabs nowadays are cut very thin when compared to the old days when gold was plentiful and quartz gold cabochons were fashioned thick with high domes. A wonderful historical piece with several deep sections of gold veining. This one would be great for a collection, or a really neat paperweight. Ruler is in inches, the weight is 34.22 grams.
