GENERAL TOM THUMB And WIFE" CABINET CARD
People born with genetic mutations and hormonal irregularities have been the subjects of public curiosity over the centuries. This listing is for an Old Original Cabinet Card of two Dwarfs or Little People, known as General Tom Thumb (originally Charles Sherwood Stratton) and His Wife (formerly Mercy Lavinia Warren Bump) of P.T. Barnum fame. It appears that this shot was taken when Tom Thumb was in his early 40s, which would have made the date circa 1880s. Please scroll down to see our pictures and note the signatures penciled on the reverse side of the card. These were written by two different hands and may be the actual autographs of these people. Unfortunately, we have no way to know for sure. The real photo paper image is applied to the Card. The Cabinet Card measures approximately 6 ½ by 4 ¼ inches and is in good condition, as shown, with just light surface wear. The Card is signed "A. Bogardus, Photo. 872 B'way, cor. 18th St., N.Y."
