a 4.25 x 6.5` period copy shot in original tissue wrap bearing the foreign imprint of Georg Michel, Strassburg. The typically informal Crook wears a modified military greatcoat with fur collar posed next to an incongruous army blanket with stitched US. Inked below the portrait is George Crook Brg. Gen. USA, although probably not in the general`s hand as the signature is subtly different from the other autographed specimen in the sale. General Crook never visited Europe but his acclaim from the Apache campaign extended to the Continent.
