This is a Cairns and Brothers NY Fireman's cap, believed to be early 1900's It is from New York's 143 Grand St. The cap material feels very possibly wool and/or somesort of wool blend, navy in color. The inside rim of the cap around the edge also appears to be a brown leather. The outside visor on the cap is a dark blue leather, which is somewhat worn from age. T is a rope-like band around the front of the cap with knots and each side having a silver (not sure if that is a real silver type or not) button with the initial's of FD. All in all this cap is still in pretty darn good shape. I cannot find an actual size but it seems on the small size. I did measure the inside brown leather rim and it measures 7 inches by 6 inches.
