Cairns 5A New Yorker leather fire helmet. Size is Mediumadjustable. This is a very light pared to the newer leathers. This does not have an impact shell nor is it OSHA or NFPAapproved. Please check with your department before buying this to ensure that they will allow it's use. I believe it was made in the late 70's to early 80's. It does have the 4 point suspension system.
You can choose the color you want it painted. I can do gloss black, yellow, white or red as well as flat black.
The leather is in decent condition. T were some areas that needed to be repaired and i did so using a 2 part epoxy. T was an extra set of holes for bourkes which have been filled and a few sets of holes in the front 2 panels w a front would have been mounted. I filled all but one set of holes. T was a crack in the rear brim and some dings and nicks on the underside which have all been repaired. The grey spots are the areas that have been repaired. The scroll work is quite worn and will probably be quite flat once it is painted. This helmet is pretty solid overall. The final is pretty beat up and looks like it may have been painted over at one time. The front rivet on one side has let go but the final is still quite secure and will serve its purpose. The liner is in good condition with the rubber ring and adjustment strap still in place. The earflaps are also still in place but the show some wear around the edge w they attach to the liner. The bourkes are in great shape with the usual scratches on the lenses. I have cleaned all the brass. T is a quick release chinstrap as shown. The liner and suspension have been cleaned so it is ready to wear. T are some stains in the liner that would not wash out. I have a new liner available that does not have earflaps. For an additional $20, I will replace the current liner with the new one.
Once the helmet is paid for, I will prime, sand and paint it. I will not paint it until I have received the payment. Turnaround time is usually under a week but depending on my schedule it may take a little longer. At most it would be 10 days.
