This is a Cairns N5A leather New Yorker firefighting helmet, black, in a size medium. I bought this helmet brand new on 11/09/07. The build date listed in the helmet is 07/16/07. Upon receipt of this helmet I removed the adjustable ratcheted headband, the earflaps and the crown pad. These are the only items I modified on the helmet. The suspension system, liner, and impact cap were left intact as originally installed. The helmet is in great condition. It was in only one actual fire and one full day of lighting training fires. This helmet has bourke eye shields, but they are drooping slightly from the training fires. The front-piece holder (silk-screened maltese cross, not brass eagle) was bent slightly to better fit my front-piece. I do have a brand new/unused silk-screened maltese cross front-piece holder which I would send with the helmet. T are three spots on the helmet w some very minor paint chipping has occurred...one is on one of the ribs on the crown and the other two are on the brim. This helmet would cost $430 to purchase new.No returns. This type of helmet comes in only two sizes- medium and large. This particular helmet is a size medium. This helmet is a good memorabilia piece, but if you are buying it to use on the job, make sure you are a medium. I wear a 7 1/8" hat and this helmet fit my head well with and without a mask and hood. I am happy to answer any and all of your questions. I am also glad to send additional pictures. Just ask.
PayPal only. *I will put 8 standard yellow reflective tetrahedron decals on the helmet before shipping, should this be something you would like. Just let me know.
