THIS HELMET LOOKS AND SMELLS BRAND NEW!!!
If you have never worn a leather helmet, you don't know what you are missing!!! Date of manufacture is 10/6/2005. This auction is for a used, but "LIKE NEW" Cairns N5A New Yorker leather fire helmet, standard configuration, size is MEDIUM. However, the helmet has been upgraded with installation of a carved brass eagle. I have also replaced the fluorescent green tetrahedrons with silver, including an American flag and shamrock on the rear. The ratchet is not currently installed, but is very simple to add on and will be included in the auction. The bourkes are lightly scratched, simply from daily wear hanging on the hook in the engine passenger compartment. The original owner, from whom I purchased this helmet, testified the helmet was used only as a display model and has seen no fire conditions. I used the helmet lightly for approximately 1 month before changing departments and has seen no fire. This helmet is not approved for use at my new department, which is the reason why I am selling the helmet (I need an N6A Sam Houston).
