Old Christmas From the Sketch Book of Washington Irving Illustrated by Randolph Caldecott (1846 -1886)- one hundred b&w illustrations Published by Macmillan and Co . Published in 1876. 165 pages, Measures 19cm x 13cm Ownership copy of Frank Haseler. Frank Haseler was a founding director of WH Hasler Ltd, a manufacturer of jewellery for Liberty & Co Ltd. W H Haseler was based in Birmingham and produced a range of jewellery and silver for Liberty under the name 'Cymric'. Frank Haseler became a director of a subsidiary company Liberty & Co (Cymric) Ltd in 1901. The company also made the 'Tudric' pewter range for Liberty. A worn,but early copy of this classic story .Boards are soiled/worn and gilt design is rubbed but is still distinctive and fairly bright. Board corners are worn and bumped, as are spine ends. Small nick on edge of cloth spine. Spine has dulled but gilt titles are all legible.Front hinge has cracked and front board is slack but is secure. Ownership plate on inside front board.Missing front endpapers so that first page is verso of frontis. Frontis and title page are soiled and aged with creased over corners. Tissue guard is still in place on frontis,but has aged.Pages are soiled and stained in places with pencil marks on a couple of pages. One page of text - a chapter title page is loose and ragged around edges
