CALIFORNIA OIL BY WILLIAM ADAM OIL - WELL LISTED

" Flower Covered Cottage ". Original oil on canvas panelboard by William Adam ( 1846 - 1931 ): canvas panelboard size: 10 inches by 13 inches: remnant of signature, lower right: dated verso - " 1918 " and annotated verso - " W. C. Adam ". circa 1918 polished oak frame: frame size: 13 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches.

CONDITION REPORT: T is a tiny group of brownish vertical lines near the lower right corner of the oil ( each approx. 1mm by 4mm ) that appear as old touchup under UV examination: also in the greenish grey foreground area just to the left of the dark red signature letters - "Ad " t is an area of old restoration/in-painting approx. 5mm by 1cm covering the area w the " Wm. " in Adam's signature would normally appear ): Someone at one time has trimmed off the right vertical edge of the canvas panelboard, cutting off the last two letters of the signature, to fit the oil into this frame ). The " A " in the signature remains intact as does the vertical stem of the " d " ( both appear as original under UV examination: ): under UV examination, t is also small spot of old restoration/in-painting approx. 3mm high by 5mm long at the extreme lower right corner of the canvas just below the Ad letters w the canvas was abraded. photo ): Apart from this, the canvas is in excellent original condition.( actual color of original is closest to that in my close up photo showing the brush strokes ).
