THE CALL of THE WILD BY JACK LONDON 1903 First Edition, Illustrator-Nolan Gadient. Excellent Cond.
THE CALL of THE WILD BY JACK LONDON 1903 First Edition. Illustrator - Nolan Gadient. Cover Artist - Evan Adkins. Published July, 1903 by Norwood Press. This is a true First Edition NOT A REPRINTED COPY THAT SOME ARE CALLING A FIRST EDITION.The book was appraised by two different book stores in Gainesville Florida (Go Gators!). One gave an estimated selling value of $1100.00 and the second $1200.00 - 1400.00. Both said given the present economic situation they didn't think it would fetch that much at present time. They said to take off about 20-30%. The 24 pictures I have given you tell the story better than I can. All the pages are in very good condition with no folds, rips or tears. T is discoloration from age but the print is very good. The only writing in the book is on the last page which is advertisement for other books, (see pictures). Cover is in excellent condition for its age with very little dog ear problems or shelf discoloration. The binding will need some light repair inside the front and back covers (see pictures), some separation. Gold gilding is still visible on the top of the pages. I DO NOT have the dust cover (wish I did). Excuse my photography but I tried to give you a variety of pictures to base your decision to buy this book on. "The Call of the Wild is a novel by American writer Jack London. The plot concerns a previously domesticated dog named Buck, whose primordial instincts return after a series of events leads to his serving as a sled dog in the Yukon during the 19th-century Klondike Gold Rush, in which sled dogs were bought at generous prices. Published in 1903, The Call of the Wild is London's most-read book, and it is generally considered his best, the masterpiece of his so-called "early period". Because the protagonist is a dog, it is sometimes classified as a juvenile novel, suitable for children, but it is dark in tone and contains numerous scenes of cruelty and violence."
