Beautiful hand-carved shell cameo shows a somewhat buxom woman with a very sweet face and soft expression. The style is characteristic of 1920s with a slightly turned-up nose and bobbed hair, which is shown in great detail. The carver used the natural color of the shell to accent the rose in her hair. There is another flower with leaves on the softly draped bodice. This hand-carved 1920s cameo is in excellent condition and is bezel set into a filigree frame with rose gold floral accents applied to the four sides. The metal is unmarked but is probably sterling with gold wash or a combination of sterling and gold-filled. Cameo size is 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 inches and overall size is 1 5/8 x 1 3/8 inches. There is a secure safety clasp for this outstanding shell cameo--a great addition to a cameo collection or as a gift.
