Depression Era RARE Green Cambridge Doorknob Company Maker: Unknown: Possible : The Cambridge Glass Company Color: Green Item: Doorknob with original hardware (as shown --- other hardware may be needed for actual installation Circa: 1920s-1930s US Postage (including insurance) on this striking item is $7.00! Condition: This colorful green Doorknob is extremely hard to find. It is thought to have been made by the Cambridge Glass Company. There are records that this shape of doorknob was produced by Cambridge, but other companies made doorknobs during the Depression Era as well. The glass parts of this awesome piece are in Undamaged Condition without chips, cracks, or mold damage. The brass hardware has dulled from age. The metal bar that runs between the two knobs is original. This metal piece has some common pitting from age. It does not show when this piece is put into a door. Doorknobs have been reproduced. They do not have the quality or clarity of the original old ones and the attached metal fittings are obviously not of the same quality or thickness. They look new. We guarantee this to be an early Depression Era glass doorknob. Mark: Unsigned Description / About: Green Doorknob: 2 " W. - 6" L. (with hardware) The Cambridge Glass Company produced some the finest and most sought after hand made Elegant Glassware from 1 901 until 1958. They made many of the etched patterns that are still popular today. They were also renowned for their colors as well, for their beautiful etchings which included Rose Point, Chantilly, Wildflower, Cleo, Apple Blossom, and dozens more not listed. Cambridge produced many beautiful shapes in array of colors and styles. Some of the colors in the Cambridge listings included Ebony, Azurite, Helio, Primrose, Amber , Ivory, Jade, Peach Blo, Rubina, Cobalt, Emerald, Gold Krystol, Carmen and dozens more. It is no wonder the company realized such a huge success. One of Cambridge's most popular colored patterns was Caprice. This pattern was produced in many of the transparent colors including LaRosa (pink), and Moonlight Blue. There were over 200 different pieces of Caprice available. The pattern was featured in Ladies Home Journal, House and Garden and many other publications. It is no wonder it was one of the top selling Depression Era patterns. This Ohio factory was located in Cambridge, Ohio and was one of the largest producers of hand made glassware from the Depression Era into the early 50s.
