Up for auction, I believe, is a Daum Fre'res came handpainted scenic translucent vase of trees. I believe it dates back to the early 1900's. It is quite large measuring 15" tall x 5" wide. what I found about Daum that he specialized in delicate hand-painted patterns in colored enamel and grisaille, often highlighting with gilding. Their themes were inspired by surrounding countryside, its weather, landscape, and seasons, and the many species of plants in the company's greenhouse. This love of nature and botanical knowledge was combined with techniques such as intercalaire decoration, which trapped painted landscapes between two layers of glass, and etched, mottled, and frosted backgrounds, which enhanced the enamel details, creating atmosp and perspective for autumnal and wintry scenes. This is taken from Judith Miller's 20th Century Glass. His early work wasn't always signed. The only thing I found on the bottom is a letter "V". It is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or repair. It is a spectacular cameo piece and I am listing with a reserve on this one. I will also require insurance. If anyone wants a quote for cheaper shipping, please send me an email with your zip code. I have many items up for auction & am happy to combine shipping. Thanks for looking! Canadian & Oversees residents: I only accept PayPal. I try to calculate to the best of my ability the weights for shipping, but sometimes with all of the bubble wrap and packing, the weight is more than I expect, so I may not always ship USPS. If you have a problem with this, please contact me before bidding.
