Lot 7 of a specialized collection of badges to the 30th British Columbia Horse. PLEASE NOTE! In this lot you are bidding on the item in the first scan only! Any other scans are included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. The early history of the 30th and 31st British Columbia Horse is complicated both regiments being formed from the British Columbia Horse eventually forming the British Columbia Dragoons and the British Columbia Hussars. Both regiments trace their origins to a number of independent squadrons of Mounted Rifles raised in the Southern interior of British Columbia early in the 20th Century. In 1908 these were designated as the Canadian Mounted Rifles (Independent Squadrons). In April 1910 the Canadian Mounted Rifles (Independent Squadrons) were designated as the British Columbia Horse (Independent Squadrons). As the population of the area grew the number of squadronâe(tm)s increased by 1911 were formed into two Regiments the 1st and 2nd Regiments, British Columbia Horse. These designations becoming the 30th and 31st Regiment British Columbia Horse in 1912. Lot 7 is a matched facing pair of other ranks gilding metal collar badges. Type 1 collars with 7 fir trees and cougar on flat ledge. In WWI the 30th BC Horse headquartered at Vernon provided 2 Officers and 24 ORs to the 5th Bn CEF and later helped form the 2nd Cdn. Mounted Rifles. In the post WWI reorganization of the Canadian Militia was designated as the British Columbia Mounted Rifles. I am currently selling a large specialized collection of pre 1920 Canadian Militia badges. Due to its huge size and the many different badge varieties this is being listed as per the Daniel Mazeas âe~Canadian Militia badges pre 1914âe(tm) catalogue starting with the badges to the 36 Cavalry Regiments followed by the badges to the Infantry.
