Lot 4 of a specialized collection of cloth titles and formation patches to the Calgary Regiment (Tank). PLEASE NOTE! In this lot you are bidding on the item in the first scan only! The second scan is included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. Lot 4 is a Canadian made 14th Canadian Tank Regiment 1st Armoured Brigade formation patch. Gold letters woven through red and black melton and stiff black backing cloth. The Calgary Regiment was converted to an infantry tank battalion, one of six, under the designation of the Calgary Regiment (Tank) in the December 1936 reorganization of the Canadian Militia. Due to a total lack of any armoured vehicles the regiment remained a paper armoured regiment until after the start of WWII. It was not until February 11th 1941 that the regiment mobilized under the designation the 14th Canadian Army Tank Regiment assigned to the 1st Canadian (Independent) Armoured Brigade. The regiment was selected to take part in Operation Jubilee the 'attack in strength' on the French coastal town of Dieppe August 19th 1942 w all the tanks that made it to shore were destroyed by enemy action.
