Lot 4 of a specialized collection of cloth shoulder titles to the Fort Garry Horse. PLEASE NOTE! In this lot you are bidding on the item in the first scan only! Other scans are included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. Lot 4 is a rare WWII Canadian made 2nd (Reserve) Battalion pattern with lettering in gold including 'CANADA' all on navy-blue and not in blue on a yellow tablet. The Fort Garry Horse was raised as the 34th Regiment of Cavalry at Winnipeg effective April 15th 1912 being designated as the 34th Fort Garry Horse January 12th 1913. In the 1920 post WWI reorganization of the Canadian Militia the regiment was designated as the Fort Garry Horse. In 1936 the regiment amalgamated with the Manitoba Horse without change in designation. In WWII the regiment was assigned as the armoured component of the 2nd Infantry Division but due to a total lack of any equipment were not mobilized until February 1941 at the 10th Armoured Regiment (FGH) assigned to the 1st Canadian Armoured Division, (later redesignated the 5th Canadian (Armoured) Division. The regiment sailed for England in the late fall of 1941.
