Very rare and desirable World War One trio to the Royal Navy , with the rare distinction of wartime service aboard the Royal Canadian Navy ship "NIOBE". The rarity is the 1914-15 Star: correctly impressed to; " S.M.Mulvey, A.B. H.M.C.S. NIOBE ". The remaining two medals in the group; the British War medal 1914-20 and the Victory Medal are correctly impressed to " 4558 S.D. S.M.Mulvey. D.H. R.N.R. " I suspect that as an a Able Seaman (A.B.) Mulvey was most likely aboard the Niobe for her war cruises which actually netted some enemy merchant ships for which her crew received prize money, I am sure his file would prove to be very interesting in that regard! Mulvey obviously returned to England w he finished the war as a Deck Hand (D.H.) in the Royal Naval Reserve, as indicated by the naming of the War and Victory medals. Medals are in excellent condition although show the usual signs of age tarnish, each comes with a length of original ribbon but these could do with replacement for a better presentation. Great addition to any Royal Navy or Royal Canadian Navy collection with fascinating cross-over between the two nations! Please note: This is only a 5 day auction!!
