Lot 9 of a specialized collection of badges to le Regiment deBeauce and Regiment de la Chaudiere (Mitrailleuses) (M.G.). PLEASE NOTE! You are bidding on the item in the first scan (front and back) only! Other scans are included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. Lot 9 is a fine officers silver on gilt cap badge (Brooker 220-11-214) Blurred reverse marked W. Scully Ltd Montreal with screw post fasteners. The regiment was originally formed in 1869 at Dorchester Quebec under the designation the Provisional Battalion of Beauce this being altered to the 23rd Beauce Battalion of Infantry in 1871. In 1889 the regiment was absorbed into the 92nd Dorchester Battalion of Infantry. The regiment contributed nine volunteers to the 12th Battalion on its formation at Camp Valcartier in August 1914. In the 1920 post WWI reorganization of the Canadian Militia the regiment was designated as the Beauce Regiment this being changed to the French Le Regiment de Beauce in 1921. In 1936 the regiment amalgamated with all four companies of the 5th Battalion, Canadian Machine Gun Corps under the designation le Regiment de La Chaudiere (Mitrailleuses) the MG designation was dropped in 1941 when the regiment was converted to an infantry rifle regiment.
