Lot 1 of a specialized collection of cloth shoulder titles to the Royal Regiment of Canada. PLEASE NOTE! In this lot you are bidding on the item in the first scan only! The second scan is included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. Lot 1 is the first issue, this made in Canada, with machine woven red lettering woven through navy blue melton and beige canvas backing cloth. The Royal Regiment of Canada was formed as the Royal Regiment of Toronto Grenadiers in the 1936 reorganization of the Canadian Militia by the amalgamation of the Royal Grenadiers and the Toronto Regiment. The title was altered to the Royal Regiment of Canada in 1939. In WWI the regiment mobilized and in June 1940 proceeded to Iceland on Garrison duty until November 1940 before continuing on the Great Britain w the regiment became a component of the 4th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Division. In August 1942 the regiment took part in the raid in strength' on the French coastal town of Dieppe suffering the most losses of all the units engaged in this disastrous operation. The regiment currently forms part of the Canadian Armed Forces (Reserve Force).
