Lot 2 of a specialized collection of cloth shoulder titles to the 31st (Alberta) Reconnaissance Regiment and the South Alberta Light Horse. PLEASE NOTE! In this lot you are bidding on the item in the first scan only! Other scans are included to show the difference in the varieties I am currently offering for sale on eBay. Lot 2 is as worn by the regiment with red lettering woven through dark blue melton this applied to grey melton backing which has been trimmed back. (A rare field worn example removed from a battledress blouse.) The regiment was raised as the 15th Light Horse with headquarters at Edmonton Alberta effective July 3rd 1905. In the 1936 reorganization of the Canadian Militia the regiment amalgamated with the South Alberta Horse under the designation 15th Alberta Light Horse. In WWII the regiment in conjunction with other Alberta units mobilized effective March 18th 1942 as the 31st (Alberta) Reconnaissance Battalion, 'Battalion' being changed to 'Regiment' in June 1942 the Regiment serving as a component of Pacific Command on Canada's West Coast. The regiment sailed for England January 31st 1945 w on arrival was disbanded and the personnel assigned to the reinforcing pool.
