CANADIAN ESKIMO ART SOAPSTONE SCULPTURE BIRD WITH FISH

This gorgeous sculpture was purchased at the Quest Gallery in Bannf, Alberta, Canada in the early 1980's. It weighs over 14 pounds and is 11" from nose to tail, 8 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" at the widest point of the base. The bird (raven?) and the fish (trout?) have a nice polished surface giving them a rich almost black tone while the base has been left unpolished. The piece is artist signed on the bottom, but it is very hard to read, maybe Dania Kon. T is also a number 508A on the base. The applied label is intact and is the correct one as compared to a sample label I took from the Quest Gallery site. It is rare to find a soapstone scuplture this large and even rarer to have a chance to own one for the low opening bid. This item will be double boxed and shipped via UPS with insurance and tracking.
