This striking sculpture of an Inuit woman preparing a goose for the family meal, has always been the owner's favorite as you can tell by the dust she has accumulated in 20+ years of display. She was purchased at the Quest Gallery in Bannf, Alberta, Canada in the early 1980's. I probably could have scrubbed her clean, but since I am not a soapstone expert, I decided to let the new owner take care of it. This is a relatively large piece weighing almost 6 1/2 pounds and standing 8 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" from the front to the back and 4" wide. T are several stickers and markings on the bottom. T is a sticker with hand printing reading SIMON. T is a Quest Gallery sticker and the correct Canadian government registered sticker showing authenticity as compared to the photo I copied from the Quest Gallery site. T are also marks "scratched" into the bottom reading as follows: E9 1716 and then what might be the artist's mark, which looks like a lower case h followed by a triangle followed by an upper case L. This item will be carefully double boxed and shipped via UPS ground.
