RARE Candlewick Cut Cornflower Crystal 9âe 4-Toed Crimped Square Bowl (400/74SC) Circa 1937-1946 Up for auction and offered without reserve is a lovely and rare Candlewick Crystal 9âe 4-Toed Crimped Square Bowl (400/74SC) with the W.J. Hughes Cut Cornflower design. This piece was produced by Imperial Glass Company from 1937 âe" 1946 (in the blank form). This bowl is very hard to find with the Cornflower Cut as indicated by Mary Wetzel-Tomalkaâe(tm)s 2002 Candlewick Price Guide Value of $66.00 - $115.00 (page 52). Bowl without decoration is also pictured on page 34 of the book Candlewick: The Crystal Line by Myrna & Bob Garrison. This lovely crystal ribbed bowl has 8 ribs or sections and 4 round ball feet on the bottom. Square Crimped bowl measures 9âe across diagonally from corner to corner. T are four cut Cornflowers one on each side with the sprays of stems with leaves between the flowers. Bowl is in very good condition with no chips or rough edges. T are a few light scratches, consistent with age, inside the bowl which are noticeable on close inspection. The bowl is an early piece and has a slight yellow tinge to the glass. This Candlewick bowl is a hard to find piece that will enhance any Candlewick or Cornflower collection. Additional Information : Many people are under the impression that W.J. Hughes Cut Cornflower must have 12 petals to be a âeoetrueâe Hughes design, this is not correct. According to the book Cornflower Creatively Canadian by Wayne Townsend on page 50 he quotes âeoeThe number of petals used on the cut depended on the size of the cutting surface, but the standard number was 12âe. It is the design that is always consistent not the number of petals. Please view detailed photos and email me with any questions you may have, I would be happy to provide you with any additional information I can. Please check my 100% positive feedback and bid with confidence! Thank you for your interest. Note: International and Canadian buyers âe" shipping cost will be determined based on location. Please note : I believe in the auction process and that is why I always start all my auctions at $9.99. I do not sell reproductions and I always research my items and provide as much information as possible. I have consistently listed items that I know to be worth hundreds of dollars but I still start the auction at $9.99. With this process everyone has a chance to obtain a treasure for a bargain price.
