You are bidding on a beautiful European ca. 1880's porcelain bust of a lady. The detail is simply wonderful--a veritable feast for the eye. The woman's head is tilted slightly in repose, and the dreamy and expressive curves of her face are framed by folds of pale green stand-up sleeves and a lace collar edged with dots of tiny painted pearls. Her light brown hair is upswept with two lavender bows, and accented with two braids. The lady stands 8 1/2 " tall, 5" wide and about 4" deep. The pedistal supports her figure like a stylized bustier, embellished with gold painted flowers and swirled arches. At her waist is another lavendar bow and two Capodimonte-style pansies. A small cornicopia curves up from her hip, designed perhaps to hold small flowers. The lip of the cornicopia is chipped off, but looks like part of the design. The bow at her waist has the end of the ribbon missing, and the tip of the ostrich plume behind her front hair bow is chipped off. Otherwise, her charm and beauty endure. T are two numbers, "1773" and "17" carved into the bottom of the pedistal, and a stamped number "15." T is also a faint blue marking near the numbers. The mark is shaped like an hour-glass with the letter "M" or "H" under it. Thanks for looking, and the best of luck bidding!
