AKG cms thread to Neumann Gefell Bayonet microphone adapter Fit M7, M8, M9 and BLUE bottle capsules to C28, C60, C61, C451 mics. Open up a whole new world of sounds from your microphone collection! Now you can try many different large diaphragm capsules on your old AKG microphone pre-amp bodies. For sale here is a precision machined capsule adapter . This is the original UK-made Neumann to AKG capsule adapter and is much better quality than the USA copy of my design. Made from solid metal with a PTFE (Teflon) dielectric insulator. The adapter barrel is stainless steel and the pin is gold plated brass to keep the (small surface area) electrical contact as clean as possible over the years. Simply screw on the adapter in place of the AKG capsule and you are ready to attach Neumann style bayonet capsules. Use vintage capsules made for the Neumann Gefell CMV563 mics, CMV3 and the RFT / VEB Funkwerk Leipzig Bottle mics among others and newly made "Lollipop" capsules such as those from BLUE (Baltic Latvian Universal Electronics) and Violet on your vintage and classic AKG mic pre-amp bodies. BLUE produce a "lollipop" capsule especially for the old AKG mics with, I believe, the B6 capsule in it. With this adapter, the whole range is now available to you and you can, for example, buy a single bayonet B6 that will go on both your AKG CMS mics and your CMV-563. The AKG CMS system mics normally only take the CK28, CK26, CK1, CK2, CK3, CK4, CK5, CK8, CK9 and similar "CMS" system capsules, extension tubes, attenuator pads, A51 knuckles, etc. Some of these models were badged "Norelco" in the USA. Note: For sale here is the adapter only. Variants include 452, 451E, 451EBObvious, first-try combinations might be the BLUE B6 on a C28 to come close to the AKG C12 sound or a BLUE B0 on a C60 to emulate the hallowed Telefunken ELA-M251 . Remember, the circuit topology and components of the AKG C28A are the same as the C12. The results using a C451EB are less convincing, but fascinating all the same. M7, M8 and M9 combinations are especially interesting and they are, of course, new territory - a pair of M9/C451 as spaced-omni overheads on drums being a great example. It should be noted that due to the larger capacitance of these large diameter capsules, AKG attenuator pads will attenuate less when used with them. For example, an M7 type capsule will only be attenuated by around 6dB with a "10dB" pad and around 12dB with a "20dB" pad. I can tell you how to modify pads for specific attenuations if you want.
