Well, this is the one that started it all. Introducing issue # 1 of the famous Captain Dug decanter series, The Moonlight Ranch. Released over 30 years ago, the Moonlight # 1 has always been the icon for the series, and commands the respect of all... it truly has easily earned its "# 1" status. Finding a copy of this decanter, even highly damaged, has always been a chore for Dug collectors... Its amazing how few actually remain out t in any decent condition. Years ago, I would bid on any that came along...no matter how bad off they were, and quickly realized that most were not even restorable or of any real value. Broken moon tips, heavy spider-web cracks over large areas, a partially missing or glued arm... and, it sounds funny but, even the entire upper half gone ( yes, the girl was actually missing ! )... I have seen it all. I know t are some good copys out t, but for us this was the ONLY Moonlight I personally ever found that was in very good shape and fully restorable. Dont let the pics fool you, everything per se "wrong" with this copy is either very minor or repairable. lets start with the upper half , shall we ? The moon is fully intact and the girl still has her appendage attached. T is absolutely NO hairline cracks or chips over the entire surface of this piece ( top or bottom ) and the color is still very good. If you look closely t are only what appears to be a dirty fingerprint look and "smudges" and t from being handled by the careless over the years, and a line of possibly a pencil mark, ( NOT a crack or surface hairline ) across the upper part of the moon. The bottom half is as good or better. It has great color and is quite clean overall, with the original labels ( although one was cut to remove the liquor inside ) . The cork of course, has about had it. This is normal for a piece of this age, especially from contact with the liquor inside. What I do like is that you can still smell the original contents which is bittersweet. Although I would consider this piece "as-is" at around 90-95% perfect, I could have cleaned it up to look even better for the auction, but I believe in trusting that to a professional. even under close scrutiny its still a beauty and looks so lovely on display. I hope you have a very good idea of what you are getting , as I know I hate generic condition descriptions. Bid with confidence on this no-reserve auction ..We have a 100% positive feedback, and guarantee your 100% satisfaction too !! Sorry, but this baby is a Pay-Pal ONLY auction. Good luck to any and all of you collectors !
