Published in 1981, and representing one of Pacific Comics first titles, Captain Victory And The Galactic Rangers was the brainchild of comic great Jack Kirby. While copyright restrictions did not allow it, Captain Victory's origin was none-the-less suggestively tied to the New God's series Kirby had created for D.C. in the early 70's. Kirby accomplished this by introducing a piece of equipment (said to belong to Victory's father) that was identical to Orion's astro-harness. Also, Captain Victory's grandfather Blackmaas, seen only in shadow, cast a silhouette that looked suspiciously like that of Orion's father, Darkseid. Be that as it may, the series lasted only 13 issues, and Captain Victory did not reappear until 1994 when Topps comics published only issue #1 of a planned, five issue mini-series.
