This 34 x 29 inch silk Japanese flag has some Japanese writing in large letters one each upper side of the center sun. One one side is a U S 1st Marine Division Patch and on the other a U. S. 2nd Marine Division Patch sewed on to the flag. Painted in white letters in the center is "U. S. M. C." and Sasebo, Japan above. Written in Black ink are Places "Tagka, Nagasaki, China, Tientsin, Paris Island, SC, I-Nora, Japan, Sasebo Naval Base. Ships include "USS Charle Carroll June 25, 46; 29,46"; "USS Comet, Feb. 19, 46 ; March 10, 46". Some of the autographs include "C. M. Perkinson, Triangle, VA ; Clyde O Reed, Norwalk, Cal; Paul Vasquez, Los Banos Cal.; Talph Bailey, Tarrant City, Al; Bill Hartline, Troutman, NC; James W. Stevenson, Jacksonville, Ga; Herbert L. Smith, Oil City, PA; C. J. Stoltman, Minneapolis, Minn.;" and more. It has been stored folded for many years and needs to be laid out flat or framed. There is some light age staining.
