CAQUE, 1864 COMMEMORATIVE STONEWALL JACKSON MEDAL Front with a finely detailed profile portrait of Jackson, surrounded by inscriptions, including the artists error in the year Jackson was born (1821 is on the medal, and should have been 1824); the backside with ribbon and foliate wreath, listing battle highlights of his career. Said to be that 5,000 were minted and never distributed, they were stored in a warehouse which burned in the early 1890s, with most being destroyed.
