One of the most interesting layouts at carail ? And the only n gauge one ? The lobby display was commissioned by mr. Kughn. Prominent new york theatrical set builder (and accomplished train layout designer) clark dunham produced a model of the finished layout (which is included with the lot). Although originally designed for o gauge, the layout would have been too large for the planned location in the dining area of carail. As a result, mr. And mrs. Kughn had dunham redesign the layout and construct it to accommodate the tiny n gauge track and rolling stock. As lionel never produced n gauge products, bachman components ordered from madison hardware were used to build the layout. One of the most appealing aspects of this lobby display is the backdrop, which features remarkable original artwork commissioned by the kughn s in the style of the famous1954 lionel catalog.
